Dear Members, Students & CHTPs,

During the past several years of pandemic many Healing Touch communities have had challenges with staying connected. Throughout this time the Healing Beyond Borders Board of Directors have taken steps to assist with fostering community engagement. Supportive virtual offerings such as “Staying Connected Through Social Distancing” our Pre-conference Community Meetings and the conference morning “Coffees” and evening “Bedtime Stories” were all created to connect, support and uphold students, practitioners and instructors.

Following this intention of support, we are happy to share that Healing Beyond Borders will be offering a virtual Healing Touch Practice Group. The Healing Beyond Borders Healing Touch Practice Group will be scheduled at times that allow connection with much of our worldwide community. This will be a time to connect, discuss, support and learn together.

As a long-time member of the regional Blue Ridge Shenandoah Healing Touch Practice Group, I value the experience of gathering with like-minded people to share and learn together. I began attending the Blue Ridge Shenandoah Healing Touch Practice Group in 2002, shortly after I attended Course 1: Foundations of Healing Touch. As a newcomer to Healing Touch I really appreciated the support of more seasoned students and practitioners. Hearing their stories of when and how others used the Healing Touch, what they sensed in the field, how they sequenced techniques and what energetic patterns they recognized. This group experience really helped me grow in confidence and understanding of energy work. At the end of the evening the opportunity to both give and receive Healing Touch sessions made all the difference in keeping me move forward with the work. Of course, I had heard my Healing Touch Instructors say “the energy teaches us.” As I attended Healing Touch Practice Group, I came to understand that!

How it will work:

  • Members of the Board of Directors have marked off recurring times on their calendars to gather with our members online using Zoom. A link to the meetings will be sent via email.
  • The Practice Group will be structured with a time of welcome, sharing, discussing a predetermined Healing Touch Intervention, a voice guided Practitioner Preparation, followed by practicing the intervention as a self-care technique or if you choose, a healing partner in your home.

We hope that you will join us for the Healing Beyond Borders Healing Touch Practice Group, and we hope that CHTIs will encourage their students to join as an opportunity to meet new people and find out what is going on in our wonderful community.

With gratitude for the Healing Touch Community that has supported me along the way,

Gina Bondurant BSN, RN, CHTP/I
President Healing Beyond Borders

We look forward to connecting with you.

In the meantime, our intention is for everyone is to be healthy,

in right relationship, and open hearts.

March 6th - Celebrate Healing Touch Day

MARCH 6, 2025

It's Healing Beyond Borders' 29th Birthday!
Begin planning your Healing Touch Day event now!

Each year, communities from around the world join together to celebrate Healing Touch.  Join your colleagues by planning an event that will raise awareness and acceptance of Healing Touch in your town or community.  Below is a list of suggested activities for Healing Touch Day 2025!

Ways to promote your event.  See the free flyer downloads below.

Worldwide Healing Meditation

Whether you are part of a community event, or simply honoring Healing Touch on this day, consider joining with thousands of Healing Touch providers around the globe in a world healing meditation.

We start by grounding and centering ourselves and connecting with our own heart. Then we expand this heart centered energy to fill and hold all beings on this planet in a space of wholeness and healing. We end by releasing the outcome and disconnecting. Add your own inspiration, images, and content to this meditation to make it sacred or meaningful for you. Official meditation time is noon (your time) on March 6th, but you can participate at any time on that day.

Community Building Event for Healing Touch Providers
This is a great opportunity to connect with other Healing Touch providers in your area.  Below is a list of ideas that can enhance your event. Choose those that match the size and type of group you are expecting.

  • Invite all Healing Touch providers that you know of in your community. Look on our website for Certified Healing Touch Practitioners that you might not be aware of.
  • Offer food, social time, and a time for sharing as a group.
  • If you do not know each other, consider name tags and some type of group introductions.
  • Provide space and set up tables for Healing Touch exchanges.
  • Ask a local instructor to review the basic Healing Touch sequence for inactive Healing Touch providers.
  • Celebrate newly certified practitioners and instructors, and any other milestones.
  • Participate in the world-wide healing meditation.

Awareness Building Event for the Public
Each year dozens of communities around the world participate in Healing Touch Day activities.  Many creative and varied activities occur ranging from month-long schedules of events, city and area wide presentations, weekend retreats, day long gatherings, and presentations and classes, to individual participation and tithing. Below are a list of ideas that can help you put together an awareness event for the public.

  • Find a location that fits your needs and goals such as a community center, nursing home, hospital, or corporation.
  • Schedule an Intro to Healing Touch talk or Healing Beyond Borders Powerpoint presentation.
  • Offer free Healing Touch mini-sessions.
  • Have drawings for free Healing Touch sessions or classes.
  • Offer a Healing Touch class.
  • Participate in the worldwide healing meditation.

Promote Your Event
Below are some ideas for promotion of your event.  We have a free downloadable poster and a sample press release ready for your use.

  • Download the free Healing Touch Day Flyer. Print it and then add the activities specific to your community in the space provided. You can hand write the information, or type it on your computer and run the flyer back through the printer.  Or, you can print something and then cut and paste it into the flyer.
    • Note: These flyers open and can be edited in Microsoft Word.
  • Create a bulletin board display at a local community center, church, etc. Use the Healing Touch Day flyer as part of the display, and consider using a marketing brochure available on this site.
  • Write an article about Healing Touch for your community newspaper.  Begin with the sample press release (document link listed at top of page), and add local information and stories of how local people have benefited.
  • Call your local radio station and ask for an interview to discuss Healing Touch.
  • Ask your mayor to declare March 6th as Healing Touch Day for your town.  Then send a proclamation to the local newspaper with the mayor’s signature on it.
  • Participate in an existing community event such as a parade, fair, or other activity with information about Healing Touch.

Opportunity to Participate in Healing Touch Research

Healing Touch (HT) Research Project

An Opportunity to Participate

Dear Healing Touch (HT) Community,

This email presents an opportunity for HT practitioners and instructors from across the globe to participate in a HT research study titled, “Analysis of barriers and facilitators to integration of Healing Touch in healthcare organisations: A qualitative semi-structured interview study.”

The goal of this pilot study is to conduct short, semi-structured interviews with participants from various parts of the world and get their perspectives on what factors may have helped the integration of HT into healthcare organisations (facilitators) at places they may have been or hindered the integration (barriers) of HT. It is anticipated that common and/or culturally important themes can be identified, and approaches and strategies can be developed to further integration pursuits. This becomes more relevant as we move towards patient-centred care, non-pharmacologic agents to reduce pain and self-care for healthcare professionals.

To participate in the study, English-speaking, international HT practitioners, certified HT practitioners, and certified HT instructors 18 years or older, who currently, or previously, practised HT in a healthcare organisation as either a volunteer or a paid employee, are invited to participate. Those less than 18 years old and non-practising HT practitioners, HT students, and HT (certified) practitioners/instructors who have not practised HT in a healthcare organisation and cannot speak English are ineligible.

This study will be performed in part as requirements for an MSc program. The MSc student conducting the study acknowledges a confluence of interest as an HT practitioner/instructor and member of the Board of Directors of Healing Beyond Borders. This project, designed by the MSc candidate, has been approved by her supervisor and an Internal Review Board at the University they attend. Ethical guidelines will be honoured to protect participants’ identities and the data collected. Further details will be forwarded to interested candidates.

If interested in participating, please reply by May 26, 2025, to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Thank you for your consideration.

Christa Voorn RN, BScN, CHTP/I, MSc student and Liz Hawkins, supervisor

The Impact of the Pandemic on Course Work & Professional Development

December 22, 2022
Extension of Modifications through July 15, 2023
The Impact of the Pandemic on Course Work & Professional Development for Students, Practitioners & Instructors

In January 2021, the Board of Directors made temporary modifications, to our Course 5 Homework, Practitioner Certification, and Instructor Training requirements due to the impact of COVID19 upon the ability of our students and instructors in training to progress forward with their goals toward certification.

The Board of Directors have recently met, reevaluated our community's needs, and determined that Healing Beyond Borders will continue to extend the temporary modifications through July 15, 2023 (Homework during the practicum) and through the July 15, 2023 Certification Application Submission Deadline, with the plan of reevaluating on or before that date.

Practitioner Certification - Temporary Modifications Extended through July 15, 2023.

In November 2020, the Board determined to temporarily allow one distance healing session to be included in one of the two case studies submitted for certification (Certification Criterion 6). Applicants for certification must ensure that the distance healing session adheres to the framework for a Healing Touch session and that such adherence is well documented in the write up. This temporary modification to the case study requirements has been extended until the July 15, 2023 certification application deadline and will be re-evaluated on or before that date.

Another question that came up was related to the use of distance healing for healing modalities (Certification Criterion 3), for example a distance Reiki session or healing modalities delivered via video conferencing. As written, the certification guidelines do not limit healing modalities only to those delivered in-person. However, as with any healing modality included in the certification application packet, group sessions, routine allopathic care delivered via telehealth, or the use of a device that is unmonitored do not qualify.

Course 5 Homework - Temporary Modifications Extended for Students to July 15, 2023

In November 2020, the Board of Directors initially approved an increase in the number of distance healing sessions (up to 15) that could be included in the documented sessions completed between Courses 4 and 5. In January 2021, given the ongoing impact of the pandemic, the Board temporarily increased the number of distance healing sessions that can be used for homework to 30. This temporary increase has now been extended through July 15, 2023. Students who take advantage of this temporary change would need to apply for certification by the July 15, 2023 certification application submission deadline.

Note: It is recommended that these sessions include some type of monitoring and/or interaction with the person receiving the session, such as via video conferencing for the intake and debrief. The distance healing sessions must adhere to the framework for a Healing Touch session.

The Board will re-evaluate this number on or before the July 15, 2023 certification application submission deadline to determine any future guidelines.

Instructor Training - Temporary Modifications Extended through July 15, 2023.

Given ongoing, varying public health restrictions related to the size of gatherings, the required minimum of 6 students in a class used for teaching experiences for instructor training has continued to be an issue. The Board is temporarily reducing the minimum number of students per class to 4 for teaching experiences. This guideline has been extended until July 15, 2023 and will be re-evaluated on or before that date.
