Christine StewartChristine B. Stewart RN, MSNc, CCRN, CHTP, CHTI

Hi, I am Christine B. Stewart, and I live in far Northern California in Palo Cedro. I began my Healing Touch journey in April 2008 when I realized there was “something” missing from in-patient nursing care and sought out my first HT class. I became a CHTP in 2013, and a CHTP/I instructor in 2016. I introduced Healing Touch to Mercy Medical Center Redding, and facilitated training approximately 50 nurses and community members in HT Course 1. I have enjoyed being an active member of Healing Beyond Borders by previously serving on the HTI Marketing Committee and contributing to the Perspectives in Healing newsletter.

I began my nursing career in the Cardiac Care Unit and ICU and have transitioned to clinical supervisor and Director of the CCU, ICU, Cardiac Telemetry, RDU, and Cardiac Rehab. As a director, I chaired several committees in the hospital setting, including the Critical Care, Code Blue, Rapid Response, and Sepsis committees, as well as serving on several other committees which taught me how to work well in collaborative groups. I am most proud of integrating Healing Touch into the ICU, and of collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to create a “Heal the Healer Day” for all hospital employees to enjoy HT, Reiki, guided imagery, blessing of hands, and spiritual care services.

After prayer and meditation, I feel I am being called to serve the organization that has supported me on my journey of self-healing, and in my calling to facilitate healing for others. I appreciate and honor the hard work and decisions the Board has had to make as I’ve watched from the sidelines. Now it is time to join the leadership team and help support and facilitate the growth and direction in which the organization is moving. ♥

How is it that we get to walk this Healing Touch path? That we have opportunity to be present to others on their healing journey? I could not know 16 years ago how deeply Healing Touch would resonate through my life, creating such a profound and positive shift personally and professionally. Sharing this work and the vision of Healing Beyond Borders (HBB) is part of my life work. My gratitude for the intention and integrity of HBB is calling me to serve greater community.

I am a Registered Nurse of 21 years working primary care on a pediatric and adult medical-surgical inpatient unit at Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital (SRMH). There my roles past and present include Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor, Professional Development as a Pediatric Clinical Educator, Chair/member from its inception of the Sentara Pediatric Practice Forum focusing on development of best practice, policy and procedure to insure safe, competent care of children across a 13-hospital system in VA, MD and NC.

My Healing Touch journey began in 2002 with teachers and mentors of such skill and loving intention. A CHTP with a private practice since 2009 and CHTI since 2013, I currently teach Course 1: Foundations of Healing Touch and am working towards Course 2. In 2017 I completed a 400-hour Clinical Herbalist Program in Western Energetic Herbalism at Sacred Plant Traditions, merging my love of green growing things with my passion for nursing and Healing Touch.

I have had many opportunities along the way to serve my local Healing Touch community, as a Helper in many Course 1-5 classes, as coordinator of the Blue Ridge Shenandoah Healing Touch Practice and Mentorship Groups, as a frequent volunteer offering Healing Touch in various settings. I have had the rich experience of walking beside many HT Students through the mentorship process, including serving on the HT Mentorship team for INOVA Health Systems. I am the Healing Touch Provider at SRMH offering Healing Touch for staff stress reduction through the Care for the Caregiver program.

I feel a calling to serve the greater Healing Touch community of HBB and believe I can offer that through the HBB Board of Directors. Stepping onto the Healing Touch path and choosing to follow has brought me to a place of deep gratitude and desire to be of service.
