Stand Like Mountain, Flow Like Water

Stand Like Mountain, Flow Like Water

Reflections on Stress & Human Spirituality
Online, Self-Paced, Workshop with Brian Luke Seaward, Ph.D.

Welcome to a unique and valuable learning experience that gently guides you through a collection of ageless wisdom and timeless insights to help gently nurture you along your life journey during these often turbulent and challenging “winds of change.” The proverb, “Stand like mountain, flow like water” is more than a cute metaphor; it’s a divine philosophy of life.

Stress is a stranger to no one. Yet in all aspects of life, we have a choice: We can give our power away and succumb to crisis, negativity and suffering, or rise above it and move on gracefully. Without a doubt, we are living in stressful times. Definitely more stressful than when my book, Stand Like Mountain Flow Like Water, was first published in 1997. Though these current times may be filled with uncertainty and colossal challenges, the pearls of ageless wisdom, tested and proven over millennia, have not changed. As such, they offer more than hope, they offer jewels of insight essential in today’s world.

Introduction Video

This course offers 10 lessons based on the chapters from the best selling book, Stand Like Mountain, Flow Like Water. Each lesson is comprised of three parts: 1) A “wisdom circle” fireside chat highlighting spiritual insights, 2) A soul-searching journal exercise to help process these insights, and 3) A guided meditation to help reinforce the insights and offer a sense of relaxation and inner peace in these challenging, if not turbulent, times. A wise sage once said, this: “The winds of grace are blowing perpetually, we only need raise our sails.” May this course provide you with the means to raise your sails.

Content Summary:
The “DRAMA” is frequently active in many of us. In the professional field of psychology, much is written and taught about recognizing and changing this unhealthy way of relating, but little addresses healing the underlying wounds that give rise to the internalization of the “DRAMA”.

When immersed in the shadowy replays of past experiences that adversely affect present life, this healing process encourages persons to point the metaphorical kaleidoscope toward the light. As we turn the dial, the bits of information that make up the energetic pattern of the “DRAMA” re-order themselves and reveal a new design of self as safe (physical and emotional). Seeking more awareness, we turn the dial a second time and search for greater light. The bits of information re-pattern to shift awareness to learning (mental). Enhanced illumination and another turn provides a shift in perspective that frees us from repetitive and hurt-filled thoughts and behaviors and into living anew (spiritual).

This course offers a healing approach employing sacred geometry, questions, and energetic healing practices to illuminate and transcend the deep wounds contributing to high dramas and chaos in intra- and interpersonal relationships.

Participants review an overview of the 6-step process. Emphasis is on the energetic healing aspects: a gazing contemplation, the six-pointed star meditation, and healing techniques that energetically support the metaphorical 3-turns of a kaleidoscope.

Part 1 is specific to application of the training to support self-care

Part 2 (part 1 is a prerequisite) teaches how to use the information to support the healing of another.

Learner Outcomes:

  1. Apply the six steps, including the Six-Pointed Star Meditation, for transforming out of the drama pattern and into a healthy pattern of relating to self (part one) and others (part two)
  2. Recognize the energetic pattern of the “DRAMA”: mercurial, slow vibrations, stuck (especially root and sacral chakras) in oneself (part one) and patients (part two)
  3. Perform 3 additional specific energetic healing processes for supporting the transformation out of the drama pattern and into healthy patterns of relating to self and others (part one and part two).

Supplies Needed:

  • TEXTBOOK: Three Turns of A Kaleidoscope: Healing the Victim Within (Johnson, Bonnie Suzanne) 2008 – included with Part 1 tuition

  • graph paper and protractor with pencil

Spirit of Ireland

Tour Theme
Ireland is a country rich in culture, history and music, yet there is a mystical essence that cannot be described in words. It must be felt in the heart through the landscape, the music, the stories and the Celtic earth itself. It is this essence that we will capture on the Spirit of Ireland Journey. Not just a simple vacation to a pretty place, the theme of this journey is one of healing; healing Mother Earth through the energetic ley lines (meridian points at various Celtic sacred sites, known as “faerie lines” in Ireland); helping to restore the healing energies of these sacred sites and offering compassion in action through daily meditations and reflections. We will also enjoy the beauty of the Irish culture and the spirit of Celtic traditions found in the music—LOTS of great music! The northwest and west coast regions of Ireland are renowned the world over for their stunning beauty and Celtic charm. People often say that traveling to Ireland is like stepping back in time to a land steeped in rich culture, history and spirituality; a less rushed lifestyle in a magical setting, where people meet you with a smile and a twinkle in their eye. Everyone who has traveled with us on previous excursions describes this trip as a life-changing event in their lives; the memories and friendships forged will last a lifetime.

Who Should Come
Any and all people interested in a spiritual adventure to the Emerald Isle, specifically those who wish to travel with like-minded companions and healers interested in participating in a magical journey of Celtic spirituality, Celtic music and Celtic history. As several people have stated: “I know that when I attend one of Seaward’s programs, I am going to be coming back to people I consider to be my family.” Many people go on vacation and take away the experience with photos. What makes our trips unique is that we go to Ireland not only to take in the experience, but also give something back—in the way of loving compassion to the earth through the sacred sites for the health and healing of the planet. Moreover, our local tour guides are the best in Ireland and know exactly how to create the magical alchemy we desire for a most memorable experience. You don’t have to be of Irish heritage to enjoy this trip, but those who claim Irish ancestry will be smiling for years to come. Space is limited to 20 beautiful souls (with a minimum of 14 people). Upon completion of the workshop, 7 professional contact hours (CE’s) can be awarded through the American Holistic Nurses Association (pending). “This activity has been submitted to the American Holistic Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. The American Holistic Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.”

Holistic Stress Management

This certification workshop is designed to train health educators with an interest and background in “Holistic Stress Management” to teach, direct or facilitate quality presentations/workshops at their worksite. The focus of this workshop is holistic—honoring the integration, balance and harmony of mind, body spirit and emotions for optimal well-being. The World Heath Organization cites stress as “a global epidemic.” In light of recent events, from international terrorism, Columbine High School, genetic cloning, increases in chronic diseases and everything in between, the words “change” and “stress” are becoming synonymous. It is no secret that people’s coping skills for change are underdeveloped and certainly underutilized. The purpose of this workshop is two-fold: 1) to gain a sound background in holistic approach to stress management, addressing not only the causes of stress through effective coping skills, but the symptoms of stress with effective relaxation techniques, and 2) to refine excellent teaching skills in which to share this knowledge most effectively, whether it is through a one-hour presentation or a 16 week college credit course. More information can be found here on his website.
